    .inf file context menu

I want to right click on an inf-file and choose install. But i don't have it there. It's right after a fresh install of the Windows (because of other reasons). I remember that every time when i reinstall Windows this option is not available on the context menu but after i work on the Windows a little bit (maybe install some updates.. i don't know) it becomes available. But not this time :) Can you tell me what might be the reason - should i install something that i'm missing or.. ?

    Hello Pafkata,

You might see if downloading and meging the .inf option in the tutorial below may be able to help. It restores all of the default associations and settings for the .inf file extension. I have "Install" in that file extensions context menu by default, so hopefully you will to afterwards.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps,

Hi, Shawn. I'm Pavel. Sorry for not introducing myself :)
Thanks for the help but it wasn't that. The file was in ZIP folder and i was trying to right click without extracting it first. That was it :)
Thanks anyway. Have a nice day!

Shawn, from the link you gave Pavel, I see this:

inf - Setup information files. The default program is Notepad

So I'm wondering where you got Install as the default?

Edit: Looked at my system and Open is the default, Install is right under it.

    Hello Rich,

Yep, the INF download restores the default registry entries for the "Install" context menu item as well if that had been the problem. :)
