    NEWBIE need help


    Hi all first time on here and with windows 7. i got this laptop from my future son in law

    its a acer aspire 5315 running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit was previously windows vista

    now my Q's are I have set an admin passwordas how can i limit other users from getting full control of this thing , I have tried to change settings on the other user acc but no luck

    are you the only user or are you allowing other users to have there own user account?

    I would create an admin account (password protected), and a standard user account. Use the standard for general use and when anything needs to get installed /changed it will prompt for an admin approval.

    if you are the administrator of the pc then you make the other users account normal not admin you change there settings while in your account see pic

    thanks yes i have 2 acc admin (me) and my 17 yr old (standard) but if i go into her acc she has full control on the pc??
    i did a search and it is the same as this thread

    Standard User Can Access Admin's Files

    Simply just set permissions to not allow that account :)

    are you saying she has standard account but can still use all facility's of pc installing software etc? have a look at the parental controls click on it in control panel or type it in the start menu search box

    I dont know about installing software but she can go to my folders parenteral control is set at medium
