That's great. But you had only 2 primaries on the volume. Could you add a couple more dummy primaries to make the count of 4 and see whether it still works - and also whether the system is still operational.
I hope you don't mind me asking you to work so hard.
And keep the snips. It will make a for nice tutorial in your PW series.

OK mate, I used diskpart to create the partitions and the install is about half-way through.

If that is the case, we would be home free - and you would be my hero.

Ted is just now experimenting with it. Let's see whether he can confirm that.
Well ... there have been a few updates to Partition Wizard since I completed my project ... but I had good success working with it.

Cheers!

You won't have an issue coverting oem tools to logical.

A logical drive can only exist inside an Extended partition.

PW and others will automatically create the Extended when you select "Make Logical ".

The converting of oem tools will be fine. How that affects the operation of the oem tools themselves remains to be seen .

Here it is, I used PW to convert the OS Primary to an Extended/Logical and then used Windows disk management to create another Logical "Data" drive, this should settle it.

For those guests/visitors that may not know ... DO NOT attempt this if the new Windows 7 "System Reserved" partition is not present on your system, Windows will not boot/start if you do.

Ted, I am all excited to see the end. This is like a murder story on TV. And many thanks for all the work. I also like to thank Robert, Greg, and Siw for their inputs.

Update: The punch line just came in. That is great. How about a tut?
I like this arrangement. I ask the questions, you do the work. That's how I always thought retirement should be. LOL.
