Hi,

MS Word 2007

Sorry. It doesn't work here. Tried right/left ALT. Any item on the options I have to select?

Once the text document is opened in Word, hold down the <ALT> key, then drag your selection with the LEFT MOUSE button. As far as I know, there are no options in Word to turn this facility on/off - it is always available.

Hi,

MS Word 2007

Thanks for your advice.

It took me an hour to find out it doesn't need any key combination.

I tried holding left/right Alt, left/right Ctrl etc. + mouse without a solution. I looked around on options without result. Finally I found just with mouse pointer I can highlight and copy either row or column at will.

Wonderful!

I don't think it was mentioned here yet (I hope) so I'll add that the Alt-drag method also allows you to select a vertical section of plain text in Word, does not need to be in a table. (Although I'm not sure why you'd want to).
