How to copy a column

Hi folks,

Win7

On a text file, .txt, it is possible to high-light and copy a row on a table. But how to high-light and copy a column. TIA

Open the file in Word, instead of notepad, and hold down ALT while dragging your mouse to select vertical column highlighting.

Works with OpenOffice and Editplus too. Thanks for the heads up, didn't know we could do it in Word (or OpenOffice)

If the text file in question is TAB or COMMA delimited, then importing it into Excel also works quite nicely, and make it easier to select a specific column, especially if it is a large file....

Open/Save As Column Width
Just about every time I do a 'File Open' or 'Save As' command, the columns in the ensuing window that opens are too narrow. I usually have to drag the "Name" column to make it wider so I can see the entire file name. Is there a way to fix the column width globally, to a preset width, regardless...
