Might be an idea to have any new polls created in the VIP section. That way only 'skilled' members or above can open & vote, greatly reducing the chance of noob abuse.

whats the cost for a subscription
With a PROMO code for my Iceland address 247 USD for a year .

MS took pity on us because all our Banks have gone bust

Had to pay with a Guernsey (UK Channel Island) account but I can't complain at 247 USD. This is going to be FAR cheaper than the retail price of W7 alone and I've got decent access to a real load of decent products absolutely free.

I'm currently on a contract in the UK - and as a foreigner you need a Guernsey / Isle of Man account otherwise you get clobbered with a humungous tax rate since the tax man doesn't seem to like individuals running businesses -- IR 35 rule for contract workers .

With a Guernsey / IOM etc Account you can still operate as a "Sole Trader" type of business and there's NO VAT either.

Can you edit the poll again to fix the 2 middle options?

It should be something like when I took a screen grab...

    -----------------------------------------------------------

As far as the poll, I guess we go a lot of pirates here or people that can get it for free. 98% of the people here seem gung ho about Windows 7. I can't imagine a double digit percentage saying they wont run it. I was the only one brave enough to say NO knowing I would get flak for it.

A would like to see a poll like this...
Will you run Windows 7 as your primary OS?

    1. As soon as I can get it
    2. Wait till price drops then think about it
    3. Not till service pack 1 is available

    Hi there
Well it is a W7 forum.
You'd probably get the same response on a Ferrari Forum saying they were rubbish cars.

As far as W7 is concerned it's really preaching to the converted - especially if you are using one of the later builds.

I can't imagine ANYBODY whose been using W7 for a few months wanting to revert back to XP (even me as a LONG time user of XP now only have it as a Virtual Machine) or VISTA.

Vista itself *may* have improved -- I'm not experienced enough in VISTA to say but there is NO way I'd install VISTA on my machines now W7 runs fast, seems to have no problems with hardware etc etc.

Networking is still "flakey" if you need to share disks with non Windows 7 machines - but that's always been a Windows problem. For a network of ONLY W7 machines all the problems seem to have been fixed.

As for Pirates - that's NOT true since W7 is legally and Freely available from the MS site (build 7100 which is perfectly OK if you don't want to experiment with later builds).

I'm sure you will change your mind later.

    Cheers

Well, I was impressed when I got Windows Server 2008 on my main machine and then I added Win 7 on a different HDD and took it for a spin. I was VERY impressed and continue to work with this OS and I believe it will be worth tha $$$ to get a real deal as it were.

Maybe THIS time MS will deserve my $$$.
