OEM or Upgrade?

You cannot legally use OEM under the EULA except when it is bought as installed OS on a custom-build rig: Windows 7 OEM and Regular?

OEM locks to the mobo and is toast as soon as the mobo dies, while an Upgrade version lives forever and can migrate wherever you want as long as there is a qualifying XP or Vista which you own that is no longer used.

Right now the best price on OEM in the states is Home Premium for $85 (see post below). Compare that to Home Premium Upgrade 3-pack right now at $129 on Buy.com.

Put it on the Christmas wish list. I ran out of systems I could install it on. Maybe one day I build one - just for the fun of it. The new i7 990x would tempt me.
