    Help Needed

I am having trouble with windows 7 that is driving me nuts. Just about all the programs I used in Windows XP Pro and the new programs I have that say Windows 7, either when I install them or if they do install, when executed I get this message.
    “THE EXTENDED ATTRIBUTES ARE INCONSISTENT”
Is there anyone that this happened to that can give me some help?

Google's first hit states this link:

    'the extended attributes are inconsistent'

Suggests some files are corrupted and having some problems... I would first see about right clicking on the drives and running the tools to do a disk check. You will be told to restart the system. Do that first. If you are getting this while trying to do an install from CD... There is a slight possibility that either the Disc or the CD rom drive may be having issues. Try the CD/DVD on a different drive.

What version of Windows 7 do you have? Is it an OEM or full retail version? Have you got an installation disc?

Thanks for the tip, it does not matter what I install from, CD, the web or from one drive to another. Same thing when I save a file from the web and try to install it from the hard drive it is stored on. Two out of ten programs will install without this message.

Sound to me like the program is incompatible with Win 7 or you may get it to work by installing in compatibility mode either XP or Vista. You might tell us what prog's you are having trouble with and someone will have a better idea

    Hello,
I have tried letting windows use the compatibly mode and I tried deferent modes with some XP programs I bought in the past. Some of the newer programs that say windows 7 do the same thing; I just tried “360 Amigo System Speedup” The Disc said Windows XP & Windows 7, same message. I want to thank all that answered, I do like Windows 7 but I think I will go back to XP Pro, for as long as I used it I never had any problems. Besides I have over $1,000 in graphic programs I cannot use and do not want to purchase them again

    Thank You

Well IMHO one thing you definitely don't need in Windows 7 is any sort of 3rd party "Speed up" program. You are better off without them so the inability to install them is a bonus! A make and version of one of your "Graphic programs" would have been helpful!
