popup's all the time
It seems that anything I click on an unwanted pop-up arrives. I must close the pop-up before I can do anything else. What might I have done to encourage these pop-ups. Sample screen shot attached.

I ran malwarebytes and found one infected file. This file was par of a software package from MS and was installed today. The pop-up's have been going on for several days.So that wasn't the cause. The time-line doesn't fit.
Scanned with MSE too.
Hello Blockie,
Is the popup the box with the Back, cancel and Next buttons at the bottom? Its not quite clear from your snip. It would help if you can upload a clearer snip which shows what the popup says.
Thats the kind of box you would get if you right click on a webpage. Are you sure you're not inadvertently right clicking while surfing? And you said you have to close the popups, how exactly do you do that?
I m NOT right clicking when this occurs. I close the pop-up by left clicking the mouse.
Yes I do have a wireless mouse. I'll change the batteries and see how that goes.
I think I found the problem.
But first let me explain how I do backups. They do pertain to the discussion here.
I use Acronis TI Home.
I create an image of my hard drive every four days using the scheduler. I keep 7 of the most recent images.
I create a DAILY backup of selected folders that might change as I am working the computer. Again using the scheduler.
This way I can restore the system to any of the images and then restore my most recent daily file backup.
Now for the explanation of the trouble shooting I did.
Remove the batteries from the wireless mouse.
Problem still there. Problem NOT In movable mouse.
Recovered an image from, before problem occurred and updated the most recent daily.
Problem still there. Problem NOT in any files.
Installed wired mouse that I had and disconnected the wireless mouse receiver.
Problem went away. Apparently the wireless receiver was at fault.
Removed ALL wireless mouse hardware and installed wired mouse.
A window still pops up randomly as if I right clicked on the desktop to add a shortcut.
Thought I had it isolated but apparently not. The saga continues.
