Desktop icon automatic placement problem when dropping

    Hello,

When I drop an icon to my desktop there is a problem. The icon is placed at the first room which is free at the top left corner even if i drop it anywhere else.
And my goal is to place it at a special place (where I drop it), as this function works on all OS that I know :/

    Thank you for your help

    Hello pebbly,

Yes i checked this topic before but It didnt help me. I tested all options: auto arrange is unchecked, I tried to check and uncheck again but didnt help. When I drop an icon on my desktop it still place it to the first free slot and not where I drop it

There may be a problem with the icon cache try rebuilding it Icon Cache - Rebuild :)

I think the software I use to save the position of icons (DesktopOK) may have corrupt something ://

denzel3, Very sorry, I did'nt realise you were using a 3rd party app, try a system restore prior to when you first started to have this problem, then redownload and reinstall the 3rd party app you use :)

I use DesktopOK also. It doesn't continuously arrange the Desktop icons. Only at boot (if selected) and when you manually restore.

To check, start Task Manager then end the DesktopOK.exe *32 process. See if dropping an icon now works. If yes, uninstall then reinstall DesktopOK.
