    taskbar problems

    hello all,

im having some problems with my taskbar.
first of all, i lost the option to pin to taskbar and start menu when i right clich on folders etc.
second, and the bigger problem- is the my explorer taskbar menu doesent do what its supposed to do. i cant add anything to it, and it doesent show any folder or file i used lately. all it showes when i right clich it is "close all.., unpin..., windows explorer".
its not a huge problem, but after you get used to access favorite folders through it its pretty annoying.
btw, all the other taskbar menu's work well.

i have looked this problem over the net and they only talk about it being an arrow shortcut issue, which its not.
also tried to repair install, but it got stop in the middle with some error.

i think the problem might be because of some files being deleted from my c drive, but im not sure.

anyway, any help would be really great.
hope i wont have to format my system because i work on this workstation and reinstalling everything will put my work down for a day at least.

    thanks a lot in advance,
    Joel

Hi! joelr, welcome to 7F :)

First to address your concern whether or not there are files missing see this: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker Then check if your pinning capability has returned.

    If not see: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/5547-taskbar-pinned-programs-enable-disable.html

Have you tried any system restore points? System RestoreTry to think back when this started to happen, and go from there.

Click on the box to reveal more restore points. It wouldn't hurt to go back a month or so, it all depends how much your system will change, and how much your willing to re-build.

Yeh I looked into system restore but the only restore point I have is from a few months ago and it will effect a whole lot of programs.
If I have no other options left I would rather format and reinstall everything so I'm sure I'll get everything clean and running smoothly

To add to Anak's suggestions, here are a few relevant links. The 2nd may be the most promising:

Windows Explorer jump list Customizations disappeared

Windows 7 Explorer jump list disappeared

Pin to Taskbar and Pin to Start Menu Missing from Context Menu Fix

One last thought...Have you tried to remove the shortcut arrows on your Icons?

well, as you said James, the second one did show promise.
i did as said there, and deleted some files in some folders, and it fixed the problem.

    many thanks you guys,
you saved me a lot of time formatting and reinstalling everything on my workstation...
