    Can't read sfcdetails.txt

I have been trying to follow the instructions at this site: How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 but can't get sfcdetails.txt to show up in Notepad - even though I think I am following the instructions precisely. Can anyone help?

What do you see if you enter the command below as in OPTION TWO of the tutorial below.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

findstr /C:"[SR] Cannot repair member file" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log

without redirecting the output to sfcdetails.txt? Does anything show up?

Did you open an elevated Command prompt and do the sfc /scannow? Did it run and complete?

    Try this:

    findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log

This will show all the files you want to see in the Command Prompt window.
Since that window is not very practical for a detailed study, you want to paste the content into a Notepad, Wordpad or Word file.
For that you right click on the Command Prompt window (any place is good) and click Select All. Then you right click anywhere in the window. Now this whole text is stored on the clipboard and you can paste it into a document file (e.g. Notepad) where you can analyze it.
