Hi Everyone my name is Steve, I have a problem with my start menu appearing after i hit any key to return to my desktop after my monitor has gone off after the screen saver has been on then monitor goes off after.
apart from periodical reboots for windows updates I never shut down down pc.
im running windows 7 HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT with 2GB Ram and the e63oo dual core processor.
it usually happens after a lengther time off like say i go to sleep or something like that.
can anyone help please thank you kind regards Steve from Australia

Welcome to SF Steve from AU,
Can you give us some spec's on your system. I for one don't like the sleep mode in any way shape or form. Do you know the screen saver and sleep mode settings you have in place? You're running W7 32bit and where does the XP fit into the mix?

    Steve:
    Welcome to SF!

This shouldn't make any difference, but...

    What key are you hitting?
Try the <space> bar, or <cursor> key, rather than the <return> key, for example...

What are your BIOS wake-up settings?

What are your W7 wake-up settings?

These are all easily over-looked 'small' things that can make a difference in the way your computer responds.

    hi and thank you

Hi im running windows 7 premium 32 Bit 2 GB RAM with and E6300 processor i have the bubble screensaver and i dont use the sleep mode and no there is no xp on here ok.
    i hit the space bar.
say i go to bed then the screensaver comes on for 15 minutes after thecomputer is idle for 10 minutes
As I never turn pc off it only reboots when i need it to for updates
then the then the display turns off after 15 mins they are my power options and have it set that the computer never sleeps im like you i dont like sleep mode.
as I said i dont have sleep mode on
so there is no need to check wake up settings
All I do is hit space bar and after desktop comeback on comes even though it is not sleep mode the start menu is open very strange
    thank you hope that helps

    Welcome Steve

I always use the ALT or CTRL keys when I want to Hit Any Key

    My computers are on 24/7

But I just turn the monitors OFF with the monitor power button, when not being in use.

Therefore I don't use any screensaver or sleep mode. Works for me :)

Hi! Steve, welcome to 7F :) My name is Steve also...........

Try, right click on Start Orb \ Left or right click on properties \ Click on "Use default properties" \ Click OK

You might have a setting there that's causing this. Slowly add items back to rebuild your Start menu customizations, if it starts acting up again, you'll know the culprit.
