    For me with Firefox:
Right clicked the program icon on the taskbar. A box pops up. It has 3 lines...top line is the icon for the program. I clicked that and a second instance of Firefox opened.

In XP you couldn't pin them to the taskbar in the first place....

However, pinning to the Start Menu works like before - you can open multiple instances by clicking on the link in the Start menu over and over.

    More clicks?
How would that be - compared to XP?
If you have pinned the program to the taskbar, I cannot think of anything more expedient, whether it be XP, 7 or linux, than holding shift and clicking.
