    Can't delete desktop files

I bought a new PC. I was lucky to have a backup of the old PC.

I put some files on the desktop of my new PC from the old backup and now I am done with those files but my PC won't allow me to delete them.

Question: How can I delete unwanted files from my desktop?

I am the administrator and logged in as such.

    Rhanks in advance,

    Rich

Try to take ownership first and then try to delete.

Rich, I am glad things got back to order. I also hate stuff lingering on my desktop.

On my last computer I had like 4 or 5 rows of things on my desktop.

I bought this new one and swore I would not let that happen. I vowed to put documents in the documents folder, downloads in the downloads folder, .pdf's in a pdf folder in the documents folder etc....

Check back with me 6 months from now and see if I still have that theme still going.

    Thanks to all that responded,

    Rich

You may want to hide your shortcuts in a toolbar - works really well. have a look at this: Toolbars - How to Use in Windows 7 and Vista
