Well, it should be a pretty fast CPU. Do you know what your laptop is called? they have a special name for it like precision or studio?

It is a Dell Inspiron 1564, and I did update the BIOS earlier today. I'll go to sleep for now, going to try the two other stuff tomorrow.

Computer turns itself off

I posted this thread some weeks ago, and found out my processor was being underclocked, but also had the kernel error 37 according to the event viewer (Speed of processor x in group x is being limited by system firmware.

The processor has been in this reduced state for x seconds since the last report.) It seems to have evolved into some weird way, and now my computer turns itself off. Exploring the Event Viewer I found a critical error (number 41, The system has been rebooted before cleanly shutting down first (...)". I'm not sure what to do.

Research has shown that it might be the "Enhanced Intel Speed Step Technology", which I have found in my BIOS, but I haven't seen any difference.

I uninstalled a program I didn't need anymore.....and then all of my fonts got changed. Everything from Word fonts to desktop icons, explorer, and login screen fonts got changed to italic. Is there a way to fix this without doing a restore? Thanks for the help :)!
