I personally would just zip or RAR them with a password. The batch method in said tutorial is simply too easy to circumvent for everybody who's able to start up a computer without help

    Hi again

The problem in zipping is that i have huge folders, i would say, and it would take ages for zipping and unzipping them. my folders are around 400 mb each.

You could try using "Truecrypt" which is a free encryption program.

I like Axcrypt for individual files and Truecrypt for folders

I use Folder lock and sometimes AxCrypt. Folder lock can encrypt or only lock your files/folders/drives or it can do both. if you decide to use Folder lock for locking drives, just be careful with the password or you´ll find yourself having to format your hard drive.

I don't get how this is any different than simply going to the folder's properties and making it a hidden folder. Because if you go to folder options and unhide hidden files you then can see the folder and open it w/o the locker file. Well, i guess i do see what it's for.....so that you can make hidden files and not have to go to folder options to unhide them. So it's just a simpler way, tho if you have a shortcut on the desktop to folder options it's not a lot better. What am i missing?

That´s it. As far as i could see it´s not safe seeing that anybody who wants can rename it to txt and get the password. It´ll be like having a vault with the key hanging on a hook beside it. Maybe if a body wants to code it to VB or C/C++ and compile it, it might have a positive effect. Anyway, even if you compile it you´ll have to protect it to prevent somebody from cracking it(if it is possible) using Olly or Hackman and get the password. Of course, somebody who take the time for doing all that is really too nosy.

So, just to add one more, there is a folder protect called Password Folder Protect. It´s not free and i tried it once. Anyway, if you´re trying to protect sensitive business/industrial infos i suggest you finding more suitable softwares.
