So, everything has to do with the PSU. I'll get a new one. Thanks everyone.

Alright, just installed my brand-new Antec Earthwatts 750W. +12V still reads 10.12V. could it be something else with my computer? Can't tell if there's a burning smell right now because the new computer components smell has pervaded throughout the entire room

EDIT: Played Prototype for an hour and no restarts. YAY!

Hmm, thatīs weird. Everest reads 10V? What version are you using? Anyway check voltages in BIOS.

Using everest ultimate 5.00.1650. All of the system monitor tools I've used report 10.12V in OS. however, BIOS reports 12.something volts. Should I trust BIOS or OS more?

Definetly BIOS!!!

And the question is not OS or BIOS ... the question is tool or BIOS ;D
And of such tools there are plenty.. some good ones and some which were less good

I've been having the EXACT problems as you have been. But I don't think it was the PSU. I had a 650 Xigmatek running my computer for a few weeks and all was well. Recently, I started getting random restarts. Everybody concluded that it was my PSU, so I got a brand new 750 PC&Power Cooling. Didn't help one bit. After testing, reformatting, etc. I'm pretty sure it was my hard drive. I've been running vista on a 10+ year old IDE drive for about 15 hours now, and haven't had a single restart or random lock up since. I'll be returning my HDD soon. I've spent weeks trying to figure out the problem. Stupid gigabyte tech support never responds to my calls or emails...
