remember view settings for File - Open - Desktop

All of my view settings seem to stick fine, except when I choose File - Open - Desktop in some application. Then it's Tiles view instead of my Details view, as saved for every other folder.

    Win 7 x64
I already tried resetting Folder view options as per Folder View - Set a Default for All Folders

It should remember. It works that way on my Win 7 Pro X64 system.

I just tried it with SeaMonkey, IrfanView, and MS Word and they all showed details view which is my preference.

What apps does it not work in?

Every app I can find on my system. It used to work on the very system about a month ago. I don't recall what could have brake it... Every app behaves fine (e.g. for some random folder on my HDD) until I choose the Desktop from the tree on the left. If I navigate to \users\<username>\desktop the bahavior is also as desired.

Did you install any software around the time this started happening?

The problem is you always install something... Just to name few: LibreOffice, Skype, CCleaner. Frankly re-installation of any not-suspicious software is not worth the hassle just to solve that issue. In other words I don't do blind trial&error troubleshootings. If anyone knows the right registry key that holds the settings or an effective way to force these settings to reset than I'd be most grateful.

    Edit:
    Opera too...
The problem is specific to Libraries. When I navigate to Users\Desktop\ from Computer the view is set to details, as I want it.

The problem started when I lost Desktop from favorites in the side tree view in Explorer. Now I recall that around that time I deleted a Desktop.ini file that suddenly appeared on my desktop but most probably without the effect we're talking about here.

I do have a system backup (disk image) made not long ago, so I can restore some files when pointed. One last thing I can try is to go to Personalize and choose the default theme instead of my current custom one.

I tried selecting the default, unmodified theme. It didn't help.

    Hello Bucic,

Did you try resetting folder views using this tutorial instead?

Folder View Settings - Reset All to Default

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
