Help! Can't log in to W7 Pro!

When I installed w7, i was forced to create a user, although i didnt really want to. the login screen kept bugging me, so i thought i would play around. long story short i disabled my user and i cant login!

this is on my personal laptop and i am the only one who uses it.

    any thoughts?

Hello Mychmose, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Depending on what you did while playing around, you might see if doing a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you did this if one is available may help.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

you should be able to get cmd up with your win boot cd, and re-activate it from there, or at least your admin account to reactivate it....

    net user administrator /active:yes

    Remote into the registries

You could remote into the registries using another computer to turn on your account.
    1. Go to “Run” and type in “regedit” then press “Enter.”
    2. Go to “File” and down to “Connect Network Registries” and “Click” On It.
    3. In the “location” type in the exact name of the computer then click “Heck Names” then “Click” “Ok.”
Now you should see the registries from the computer you are trying to log into. Search Google to find what registries turns on a user account. I have done this in XP but never in 7.

If your installing a version of W7 below Professional, the administrator account is not available to log in.
It is normally disabled and so I don't understand how you were able to remove your existing user account.

but as Brady said re-install and delete the installed version completely and you should be fine. I always create another admin account so that if I hose mine, I can still get into the computer.

Guys, thanks so much for your replies!

I got it working. System Restore just kept going back to the user problem, so I repaired using the w7 installation disk and it allowed access to system restore regardless of users.

Now, I wont disable my user again, but is it possible to completely avoid the logon screen?

I'm glad to hear that you got it sorted.

The tutorial below can help show you how to have Windows 7 log on to your account automatically at startup.
