ok - how are you planning to install windows?

all you really need to get online is the network drivers, but we need to know whether you'll need 32 or 64 bit...which version of windows are you installing?

if your going from ubuntu 10.10 and your not doing a side by side installation, im thinking you are going to want to repair your MBR to get rid of GRUB..... its not hard to do if you have the win7 installation disk.

How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

to install win7 =yes sir,
to fix MBR=yes

i think if you install win7 over your partition of ubuntu that you will not have to fix MBR, but if you still get the screen that has the mem test and says GRUB above, than your going to have to fix MBR to get rid of GRUB.

either way, back up your valuable documents, and dont repair MBR until after you get win 7 on there.
