Windows start up problem after change mobo

Hey guys,

I recently change my mobo from an ECS brand to an Asus M2N68-AM PLUS mobo.
After fixing everything up, I boot in to windows it will restart on the point where I have to enter my passwords. I have a WD500 hdd with windows7 Ultimate in it and a Seagate 160 hdd with dual boot of vista and 7 on my seagate 160, I have no problem of booting into any one of those 2 on the seagate but not my WD500 hdd.

My spec are as the following: AMD Athlon 64 4600+, 3gig ddr2 ram, WD500GB and Seagate 160GB GB HDD, Geforce 9600gt, a d-link DWL-G520 wireless adapter, 500W PSU.

Is been on for a couple of days now, I try fixing it with windows installation disc but it says my version of windows is different. I really need this to be fix as there is important files in the windows. Thx in advance

Pretty sure you'll have to reinstall Windows so it can set up the new MOBO. You're version is different but after you get all your drivers in and updates re-updated all should be fine.

If Win7 will not start on new hardware, then you can use Paragon Adaptive Restore CD to adjust to the new hardware, or reimage using Acronis 10 or higher with Universal Restore which does the same thing.

Otherwise you'lll have to reinstall. You should be able to copy out your files by hooking the WD as a data slave, possibly requiring taking ownership of any folders that require it using this right-click shortcut: Take Ownership Shortcut

If WD will not show up as a data drive, then you can try copying out your files using Repair CD or DVD Repair console: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
