If Windows Vista works with your laptop, use Vista instead. It may be a motherboard issue.

I doubt it, its probably to do with the configuration, they are after all, different systems.

7 works ok with battery connected I presume, ?

The way my Vista laptop is configured it runs great and boots up for 1/2 the RAM that Win 7 does on my other computer and I wouldn't want to ruin that by introducing a different OS.

I really like using my Win 7 computer every day and I've thought about putting Win 7 on my laptop, but I have decided to keep Vista on my laptop which uses 1/2 as much RAM to remind me of where I came from and of all the work I put into getting Vista to run like that!

How DID you get Vista configured like that? I have it on my desktop and wouldn't mind reducing its bootup mem usage.

KazeNoKoe23- Much of the process in reducing the system resource usage in Vista has to do with disabling the usage of high use programs and features like Sidebar and Vista Aero and rather severe cuts in the 137 Services in Vista because otherwise the Services that like to run constantly consume System Resources. I did most of these cutbacks in Vista 2-3 years ago so I will have to get my laptop out and see what comes back to me. My stock Vista laptop originally used to boot up for 1035 MB of RAM and after some serious cutbacks I got it down to running at 435 MB RAM which is 238% less than the original RAM usage level along with a 40% increase in speed in an effort to demonstrate how much of a Memory Hog Vista actually wasn't when measures were taken to keep RAM usage under control.
