boot error

Hi

on my PC with gigabyte motherboard, quad core processor, 4gb ram 32 bit W7 when I start up it goes into the window7 automatic repair mode .

After running it's tests I'm told microsoft cannot fix this do I want to send the information to MS - (with no internet ;-))

I've tried inserting the program cd but no restore points are found and no repair can be completed. Nor are there any backups.

Is there a way to run the install -I have an OEM version- as a repair so I dont lose any data?

Unfortunately you can't run a Repair Install (which is an in-place upgrade) from boot - it must be run from the Win7 desktop.

Try copying out your files using the Intsall DVD or Repair CD with this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
Repair CD - System Repair Disk

When you boot into the DVD Repair console on second screen, does it show an installation to Repair? If so, run Startup Repair repeatedly with reboots to see if it will start. Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

If somehow Win7 or its 100mb System Reserved boot partition became marked Inactive, it may be able to successfully run Startup Repair by marking one active, starting with 100mb if you have it: Partition - Mark as Active

As a last resort, I would boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD to double check System Reserved partition or Win7 partition itself is marked Active, then from the Disk tab run Rebuild MBR: Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software - Partition Wizard Online

If all else fails, once data is copied out using DVD or free Paragon Rescue CD, clean reinstall following these tips to get a purrfect reinstall: re-install windows 7
