unable to delete a file (windows says its in use)

Well it happens to both of my video files (mkv) right after i've extracted the file. What puzzled me is that it says windows explorer is using it which i ddn't even play the video. I tried looking around in task manager trying to stop the process but stopping explorer.exe would end up closing everything but leaving just the wallpaper.

can anyone help me with this?

    Dear Fadlee,
It's nice you found out that the process was locked! If you read the finer print, as mentioned in the lock hunter page, it is usually "malware" which for no reason locks up a process and prevents you from having your dinner on time or delays your bed-time!

So, if i may suggest, kindly download these super>>> anti-spyware and anti-malware softwares for free (or buy,if you're impressed) 1)Super Anti-spyware (SAS) and 2) MBAM--->MalwareBytes AntiMalware and a nice new addition from iobit 3)Iobit Malware fighter (free). The SAS & MBAM free versions do not offer "real-time protection" and that's the only difference between the free and pro. Incidentally, it's Iobit's second foray into the anti-malware gallery and i can tell you IMF is OKAY! Naturally a good AV helps too!

    Regards,
    Sreedhav.

I do thought that it might be just a bug, because it only happen twice, but having an anti spyware wont do any harm either.

    thanks for the recommendation.

    Dear fadlee,
You're welcome! I was just reading a report by the renowned A-V COMPARATIVES TESTS done in August and November 2010 and you may consider the results as almost Gospel Truth!

The free Avira antivir AV scored high marks, followed by Avast(but, pro)! So,Avira rrocks! Site to download : Free antivirus - Avira AntiVir. Add the free COMODO FIREWALL and you're safe from Genghis Khan's hordes! Just,off-topic, do you wanna know what name his dad gave him? >>>> SUTU BODKA BUT TEMUGIN KHAKHAN!

Site to download the free Iobit Malware Fighter : Speed Up Slow Computer, Keep PC and Internet Secure, Freeware Download - IObit

I disregarded IMF's "CAUTION"pop-ups only to grieve later!

    Best wishes,
    DR.Sreedhav.

Comparative tests are merely results from one system setup, unless you have exactly the same setup its so much tripe.

Anyway theres an answer to your problems with MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) it checks for Malware, Spyware and Anti virus, and its free and perfectectly suited to an M$ system.

The only time you know its there is when it tells you to upgrade, and you can carry on with what you're doing while its upgrading.

Don't clutter your system with such rubbish as "speedup" programs, the only thing to do with a slow computer is a good spring clean, get rid of programs you don't use, be ruthless, disk clean then defrag,

A lot of posters also recommend Unlocker when you're trying to delete a file but Windows says no because the file is supposedly in use. If you can't figure out what program is using it, the error is usually caused by the file handle being held open by a program, process, or another user. The challenge is finding what has it open, and the freeware utility Unlocker makes it easy to identify. Simply right-click the folder or file and select Unlocker. If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear. Simply click 'Unlock All' and you are done!

The AV COMPARATIVES TESTS are universally accepted benchmark tests, testing the various facets of a program! FYI,Comodo has not not been accepted for testing and PANDA could gain entry only last year,b'cause the AV-CT sets minimal high standards which an AV or SEC.SUITE has to meet!
I am a senior member in another on-line help site and my area of interest is "GENERAL SECURITY".An year back,AVG AV was in the pits. The latest Nov. study shows how AVG has pulled it's act together! So, AV-CT is not your "just another comparatives test"!Sorry!

I fully concur with your opinion about "speed boosters",etc!

    regards,
    Sreedhav:)
