    This is just me, but I don't really see the 'live preview' thing to be that big of a deal, definitely not a deal breaker(not implying it is to any of you). I think it would be a neat thing to have, but I don't find myself using the previews at all unless I have multiple windows explorer or firefox windows open at the same time.

    in KDE/Linux you can have real live previews...

    Replied in another thread but for completeness...

    It is up to the application to determine whether it updates itself when minimized. Most do not because there is no point in taking resources for something not being seen or used. For example Windows Media Player will not up date itself when playing a song and visualization, however, it will update when playing a video.

    i guess this explains why my Windows Live Messenger sometimes seems to update itself, and sometimes doesn't, depends whether iv minimized the window, but you would think that with Instant Messengers they would, as you can see at a glance whether a message is worth replying to without having to restore it
