System specs are not difficult. Look at the botom left of this post and click on system specs, to get an idea of what we need.
If you are concerned with anything you download run it though VirusTotal.com
Speccy is made by a very well-known company, if they were to distribute malware they would quickly be shunned.

Are you running an Anti-Virus on your computer now? I would download and install MS Security Essentials or Avast 5, install and run a full scan. Also install Malwarebytes, update and run a Full Scan weekly.
Keep your Windows Updates current and Firewall turned on.
This should give you all the protection you need, however if you download anything I would immediately rightclick the file and scan with MSE and Malwarebytes from the rightclick menu.
