    Random freezes in 7229

Ok so, I'm running build 7229 which appears to work fine doing any task but it will freeze indefinately at what appears to be random times, sometimes straight after booting up sometimes 2-3 hours of general use, there is no obvious cause for this as like it said it freezes at random times when I can either be doing nothing or merely browsing using firefox or using media player, I haven't really done anything intensive on it either.
What things would you recommend I be doing to try and solve this?
Also the install took a very long time as it hung at various stages of the process but obviously completed in the end, which happened with both 7100 and 7229, is there any specific reason for this?

Well im on the same build as you ( 7229 64 bit )
and I too experience freezes that last for a couple of seconds, but the OS soon recovers from them, so its not a big deal for me. The freezes that i experience are related to starting some random applications or documents, as in for instance I double click a shortcut on the desktop to start an app, but then it doesn't start right away, it sort of thinks about it for a couple of seconds lol and then starts. On the previous build that I have had installed, 7201 64 bit, this did not happen, and starting apps was near instantenious...so i have no idea why this happens on this build

I also experienced extremely slow install times but cannot recall exactly which build it was, so i searched for answeres and solutions in the Seven Forums in Installation & Setup - Windows 7 Forums section, and found some suggestions how to overcome this problem.

What ive done is (as per suggestions found in several threads in the above linked section of the forum) :

    a) in my bios i disabled my floppy drive
    b) i re-burned the dvd at slower speeds

Because of the numberous builds that i have accumulated over the course of beta testing Windows 7, i found it more efficient and economical to burn the isos to DVD-RW discs rather than to DVD-R discs.
My burner supports burning RW disks at a max speed of 4x, but i susspected that i was getting slow install speed because of an improperly burned dvd (or because my burner is possibly dieing as it is already 2 years old), so i re-burned the windows 7 install dvd at 2.4x speed and made shure it passes the verification check after burning.

These 2 things somehow solved my problem of slow windows install time ( for now at least ),
now windows 7 installs in 20 or so minutes.

    Look in Maintenance...

You want to look in Maintenance to see what is causing the crashes...
To do this open the Control Panel, then click "Review your Computer's Status", then click the arrow on the righthand side of Maintenance , then click View Reliability History & see what the readout says...there will be a RED X circle for every systems crash.
Just click on that & it will tell you what caused it.
From there you will see if it's a Program, Driver OR if its something to do with the systems files OK.

Yea, mines a rollercoaster but most of them are minor & not Major issues like a program not installing correctly or like below, stops responding which a reboot fixed.

Thanks icoola77 I'll try that next time I install :)

Unfortunately the reliability history does show red crosses but they are all saying the same thing which is windows was not shut down properly which is true because I had to hit reset because windows had frozen lol
    Any other ideas?
Edit: Been playing around in safe mode for a few hours with no freezes

I've been having the same problem, although since I've uninstalled some apps it has been freeze free for 24hrs now. Take a screen cap of the applications you have installed, post it on here, you may have an app that causes some sort of conflict.
