Just curious as to why you'd want a dock on vista? I mean all the icons stay and are customizable on the taskbar now.

Huh? Customizable on the taskbar...in Vista?
Sure, there is the QuickLaunch , but with Docks and desktop icons you get this:
Desktop Icons without Text - Neowin Forums
O i considered having the icons there and swappable locations, customizable enough... why do you need them to look different and litter the desktop? sorry i meant windows 7... they're very similar so sometimes i refer to them wrong.
Because if you read the post I posted you get a *lot* more than standard shortcut context menu...
I see that, but it just doesn't seem necessary or all that useful... sorta like 3dsmax where too many buttons is overwhelming.
I enjoy using the startup search feature... and have plenty of space on the taskbar... i also use some keyboard shortcuts... so i guess i'm just set! I only have about 3 programs I use on a daily basis too, so i guess it all depends on the workflow- still dont understand docks lol!
