I think a lot of people pop in looking for help and have not had time to explore the site.:)
It would be nice to have though. I like browsing people's specs to see what everyone is running.
They could make it mandatory to sign up....no specs, no signing in.....
I think it's reasonable. Just for the basics. I'll bet the mods have probably thought about this and decided against it. There are probably reasons they don't require the specs....more members for one.
I agree 100% with this, I may not have been a memory here that long but I can already tell not many bother to put down there specs.
Plus, if a user doesn't know his/her own specs, making the important ones (RAM, CPU, OS, GPU) required would be helpful not only to use, but to the user themself as they would learn what they have. :)
I disagree even though I have posted my specs.
Unless I am asking for help there is no need for anyone to know my system specs.
New members signing up would probably not bother or put whatever they like (always wanted to own a super computer)
I was wondering if anyone would bring this up." Privacy "
What does it matter if your spec are posted? The only reason I can think of is embarrassment. Even that has no merit. Most people use what they want or can afford.
It's an issue with some people I guess.
I think its more complacency than privacy. I myself have been guilty (in other places of course) of not filling in a question or two. Here though it like telling us I have a car that will not start without telling us if its gas or hybrid. I find myself typing the same thing 20+ times a day. I dont know how many new members are around but most of the people asking for help have OS= XP or vista in system specs and nothing else.
