    repair pc

Hi can anyone help I have Windows 7Pro. It seems to be taking for ever to start so thought I would do a restart to last known good config. I hit f8 on startup but I only get the option to start in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, etc. But no repair my pc or last known good configaration, any ideas. Cheers Reg

    Hi Hog
Do you mean a system restore? To restore your computer to an earlier time?
If so, go to Control Panel - System and security - Action centre - restore your computer to an earlier time.
Then click Open System restore and you will see choice of dates with a description to aid your choice

Im sure a tech will be along soon

No not system restore. There used to be an option under advanced boot. Repair my pc & also start my pc with last known good configaration. Cheers

Hi and a warm welcome to Seven Forums. Could you fill in your specifications so people can help you more easily?
You can access System Restore through the control panel and restore to a previous date but it sounds like you've just got a long boot so maybe too many things are starting at once when you boot.

    I recently discovered this: Soluto

It gives you a breakdown of your boot and tells you which apps and services you can do without and which you can't. It also enables you to delay the start of some things that you won't need immediately.
My boot was well over 2 minutes and I've taken off about 50 seconds using this software.

Hope this helps. If not get back to us, John:)

How long have you had the system? Do you use software like CCleaner or scans with Malware Bytes and SUPERAntiSpyware. Also a good defrag tool might help.
See the software thread. "Free Great Programs" at the top.
Could you be more specific about your problem. Is it just a long boot and then it runs ok?
You can do a repair install from disk but that might be more drastic than is necessary

If you had Repair console on Advanced Boot Tools menu and it isn't there any longer, then it may indicate boot problems since it is placed on that menu by the 100mb System Reserved boot partition.

Please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu, so we can see.

Here are tips for troubleshooting, including checking the Performance log which will log startup hangs.
