No access for administrator

I am the only administrator for my computer. What happen was I loan my computer to my 10 year old cousin and now I can't open any files or programs that require administrator permission. Whenever I try to open a file/program that's only for an administrator, I get this message "Windows cannot access the specified device path of file. You may not have the appropiate permission to access the item" Also, I also cannot access to the internet eventhough I'm connected to the internet. Whenever I try to connect to the internet, I get a message that says unexpected error. What is goin on, please help.

I tried but nothing happens, it does not show me what group I'm in. Any other suggestion? And remember, anything that has to do with permission from the administrator would not work; it will give me that message that I told you about earlier.

Use System Restore to go back before you loaned the computer out.

I did that and it showed that I'm the only user and administrator. I also tried restoring it but I was only able to do it in safe mode. At normal start-up, I cannot do anything that involves administrator permission otherwise I get access denied. I think I'll just have to take it to a computer store.

Safe mode is fine. In fact, that's usually the best way to run System Restore. Just go back to a point in time before you loaned the computer.

It worked well in safe mode, I was able to restore it back to an earlier period like almost a week before the problem happened. In safe mode, it recognizes me as the administrator which means that I have full permission (Hooray ). However, instead of using safe mode, I tried normal start-up to see if system restore did have an effect on it but it did not unfortunately ; I was still getting access denied to many things like regedit, "right click" run as administrator, my system optimizer etc. eventhough the system has been successfully restored. Any other suggestions before I spend money to get it fix?

Another thought...have you tried to create a new admin account for yourself (if you are able)? If you're not able to create it that way, you can enable the hidden admin account and create a new admin account. Not sure if this will correct your issue (i.e., reset permissions), but you could give it a try.

1) If the problem happened when you loaned it out, and if you restored to a point before that, then the problem should be gone.

2) If your permissions are different in safe mode than in normal mode, I suspect something deeper is wrong, such as a virus or malware infection.

3) Permissions don't come because you are "an administrator"...they come because you are a member of the administrators group. Have you verified that you are still a member of that group?
