    windows doesn't load

my win7 doesn't load after the "starting windows" page.

re-installed it so i can't even go into safe mode because it says it needs to be in normal operating mode to resume installation.

it was working fine one day and at the next boot up, it won't load anymore.

    help anyone?

what build are you running? did you add any hardware or software that could be the culprit? do you know how to repair your installation?

did you do an upgrade to windows seven from a previous version of windows,or was it a clean installation?
and just to rule it out,did you install any antivirus/firewall afterwards?

although i haven't looked at seven's F8 menu yet,I'm pretty sure that it must have an option to stop windows from restarting itself due to system failure.so if you can boot with that option on you'll probably get to see a bsod with info about what's causing the failure

it was a clean installation. a trial version of antivirus was installed and the trial expired.

it doesn't restart itself at all. after the "starting windows" screen it just shows me a blank screen. the light on my monitor will flicker as if gone on standby as well.

I got to say that after reading about your problem I still don't get it

you said you did a clean installation, and after that you installed a trial, which expired. onto that you did another install? which didn't finish cause of the bsods?

    or

you had a clean install that went bad cause of the video drivers and to repair it you did a reinstall right away?

boot up with your cd in the drive. go through the installation process again and keep an eye out for the "repair" option. choose it and let it do it's thing.
let us know how this goes. we need to try that before we do anything drastic.

    Hi,

It sounds like the 'Native' (default) drivers for your GFX card are having some issues.

I would recommed Install Windows 7 in safe mode and disable your GFX card. This will cause windows to use 'Standard VGA Adapter' but should allow completion of installation and even get your desktop up and running.

From there you can download the latest drivers from your manufacturers website.

    Hope this helps :)

    1. My system specs are loaded :)
    2. I had a similar experience yesterday. Attempted to boot 7229 x64, clean install (with some stuff loaded, the install is a couple or more days old) and got stopped at the "Starting Windows" boot screen.
    3. I was able to boot in safe mode
    4. Attempted to reboot in normal mode - no dice. Reasonable as I didn't change anything when booted in Safe Mode
    5. Rebooted in Safe Mode and took a look at the restore points. Only thing of interest was a windows update.
    6. Rolled back to before that last windows update
    7. Rebooted into "normal" mode - no issues

It would appear there was something in that Windows Update D/L causing that problem.

Is there a way, given the above sequence of events, for one to recover a list of the contents of the D/L that was installed as a part of the windows update?
