    Several Issues with Windows 7

Hey guys I've had a bunch of issues after upgrading to windows 7. I had no problems with vista, my friends just persuaded me to get it and the idea of even better performance finally got to me.
I now regret switching to 7 now. I've encountered several problems and it's only been 2 days.

    1. In the middle of my browsing i found out it just freezes and won't unfreezes and i can't do anything but manually shutdown. I figured out it was linked to google chrome and switch to firefox. At least the problem is fixed.

2nd problem I had twice now. It seems I'm not the only person who had it:

When browsing that same exact thing happened to me. I wasn't running and streneous program only Mozilla Firefox and microsoft words 2010. I was simply doing some homework and browsing and it suddenly froze and everytime I moved my cursor the colors got distorted and kept happening as i moved it and eventually it turned into this dark red and black seen in that picture from the yahoo question. I'm guessing its a driver issue but I updated and stuff.
This is my main issue for now and I need to get it resolved. Any ideas on which drivers I should try?

3rd. Call of DUTY! One of my favorite games (mw2). I have not purchased black ops yet :P. It doesn't run full-screen in windows 7 (black bars on each side). I tried changing aspect ratios, that didn't work. My only option was to change the resolution to native resolution, but I didn't like that because I was comfortable running it in 1024*768 in Vista; it also gave me more fps. That could also be a drivers issue right? Also when I push down a button my mouse will stop moving. This is another major issue in cod cuz I can't even move around!

    4th..i'll write if It continues
Edit: It happened again. Whenever I put my computer to sleep and I turn it back on the sounds stops working. I then tried logging off to see if it'll working again but no, and eventually I restarted and it's working again. This will be a problem because I put my computer to sleep often.

It seems all these issues seem drivers related.
All your help would be greatly appreciated!

    By upgrade do you mean:

A inplace upgrade from Vista --> Windows 7, keeping all your old settings and files?

Or format your HD, and do a clean install of 7.

In the device manager, do you have any yellow checkmarks?

You may need to update your Chipset, Audio, and LAN drivers.
    Try here:
Gateway Computer, Server, Portable, Consumer Electronic Product Support

You want Win7 x64 versions of them all.
Worst case scenario, Vista x64 may work as well.

There were 2 exclamation marks in my device manager. One was for the Network Adapters but I updated that and now its working I guess. The other is "Other Devices"-> Mass Storage Controller.

I am downloading a new nvidia driver hopefully that goes well.

The 4th problem with sound not working after putting the computer to sleep is a known bug and I'm not going to stress out about it.

The second problem with the red boxes just frustrates me!
Hopefully the new driver will help.

I've come to the conclusion that windows 7 x64 and Gateway fx6860 laptops do not work together. If this still doesn't work, I'm going back to vista

Sorry for the double post but I am just so happy now!!
The driver works!!!!!! Just like it was in vista. I'm almost sure i won't get that red and black crap again! I am so relieved.

Now the only issues left are the sound issue, and the issue where I can't move the mouse when holding a keyboard button down. (Ex: playing cod w to move forward and I can't use the touch pad to look around.

The gateway site has very limited drivers and they have almost no drivers for windows 7 for my laptop.

Vista drivers will work for Win7. Try updating your Sound and touchpad drivers.

First check optional Windows updates to see what is cued.

Next click on update Driver tab in Device manager to try Auto updating after enabling hardware driver updates: Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware

Next try Vista drivers from the Gateway webpage for your model.

Finally Google the exact device name and model + Windows 7 to see if there are Win7 drivers, go to the maker's Support Downloads webpage for the Device to see what is offered.

If the drivers you try give you problems you can Roll Back on your Update Driver tab, or System Restore from Win7 or from booted DVD Repair console or Repair CD.

So I managed to fix the graphics and the sound problem.
I was lucky to find some guy who posted a modified sound driver for my laptop that works on win7.

So the only problem that remains is with the touchpad. Basically when I key is depressed say w, as in moving forward, I can't move the cursor so that means I can't play properly. I had the latest driver and that didn't fix the problem, tried an older one, same issue.
My only option is to uninstall the driver, but then i can't scroll.

Also my microsoft office 2010 icons disappeared, I saw a fix for that I'll get on that soon.

BTW I have the latest windows updates.
