(Help) - New user, first post

    Hello,

I've just upgraded from Win XP Pro to 7 Ultra 64
    Mobo was changed from Intel D946GZis, C2D E6600 CPU to Intel DH55HC, i3 540 CPU, 8GB 1333 RAM, 2 HDs

Used Laplink PC Mover, nice program to do an easy migration.

1 - For some reason, the C2D CPU load was very close to 100% in video rendering. Not so in the new setup - with same files and HD subsystem CPU load is around 40%, and there was a minor improvement in rendering times (main reason for Mobo upgrade).
(HD to HD transfer of a 1.5GB file is very fast).

2 - A little program - Diskbench.exe suggested an update. Once it was done, it states I need to install V 4.0....of NET framework, but it's already installed. ??

    Thanks for your help!

For .NET Framework version 4 you need this: Download details: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer)

Be aware that importing anything other than data from old OS - especially programs as Laplink does, I believe - provides a corruption path from the old install into a fresh new Win7 clean install.

This can defeat the purpose of migrating and hinder Win7's native performance as feather-light and instantaneous at all times.

If at any time you have hangs or other issues, I would strongly consider a future clean install to wiped HD to get the full benefit of the greatest OS ever: re-install windows 7

Once you get a purrfect reinstall, you never have to reinstall again anyway with built-in Win7 backup imaging, just reimage the HD (or replacement) in 20 minutes using your DVD Repair console and stored image: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

    Enjoy Win7!
