    Left mouse click dropdown

I seem to remember that there was a setting that I could change to prevent a drop-down from appearing whenever I clicked on an icon. Now I am presented with a drop-down that has "OPEN' as it's top item.
Please tell me where the setting is.

That is the context menu. Normally, and by default, it is on the right mouse button, although it can be switched over to the left for those who are left-handed. You can change this in Mouse Properties.

I am right handed and I use the mouse with my right hand. All I can do is change the left and right button assignments. Not going to do that.
    Any more suggestions?

Doesn't happen every time so it is difficult to repeat. I'll try to keep track.
    Also on different icons randomly.

Just did a little experiment. RIGHT click on any icon or folder and ALWAYS get the appropriate drop-down, the one with "OPEN" at the top. Sometimes at random times I get the same drop-down with a LEFT mouse click. I go right back to the same place and get the correct drop-down with a RIGHT mouse click. LEFT click, again, at the same spot and merely get a select. Like I should.

Could it be a faulty mouse?

I tried different mice. Same thing. Using a MSF 'ARC" mouse. Has the latest driver.
