Always hide sub locations in library?

    Hi all :)
in windows 7 library, once you go inside one of the libraries you get all the different location you put in, and all the sub folders under it, is there away to always hide the sub folders when i open them? because it is a pain to scroll through all the files i didnt need at the time just to find something at the bottom.

also, how can you make your library like the default one, that has no separater (by separater, i mean like the different location, you get a main header thing that looks like this:
    *Downloads (3)--------------------------------------------------
    D:\
    downloaded file 1
    downloaded file 2
    downloaded file 3

the downloads (3)----------- part is the thing i want to get rid of, just like how it is in the default libraries.

if anything above sounds confusing, please tell me, and i will try reword them better, sorry for my bad english

You are right, it is a bit confusing. How would you get to a folder if you hide them all.

To get ride of the "Downloads (3)" deal, right-click on an empty spot > Group By > (none)

sorry guys. so heres what i mean after playing around with the libraries and getting to know the actually term

so, when you open a library, you right click on a "group" which is the download (3)------ thing
you get a option of collapse all, how do i set it to always collapse? unless i expand them manually?

also logicearth, thx. but now how should i group them back by there file location? i tried more, but theres tooooo many for me to find in there,
    thx!

    edit
i also notice that whatever setting i change for sort by, the system automatically use that setting for group by as well, how should i make it not do that?
and the same goes to the other libraries.

I am still at a loss with your problem. When I open my Libraries, that's what I see:

whs, thanks for keeping up with me, so say if you open documents, you will see more "subfolders" right? right click on one, and click collapse all, and that is the effect i wanted whenever i open library

Not me, when I open e.g. the Documents library, I see my 3 main folders (see Pic). The subfolders only appear (in the left pane) when I open one of the 3 main folders.

    Hi RoronoaDSanji,

I don't think there is a setting to do that. On my system the library always opens in the state I last left it. So if it was "all collapsed" when I closed it that is how it will open.
