Hello Carl,
This can help show you how to create a internet website shortcut like that.
Internet Website Shortcut - Create
Hope this helps,
Shawn
Shawn's tutorial may be where you are going. But one easy way is to open the webpage from the link. Right click an empty space on the web page and, in the drop down menu, select "create shortcut". Select this and "yes" and there you have your shortcut. You can then rename it to something you fancy.
Click the link to go to the site, In the address bar, right beside the http there ususally is a logo like the forum, left click on it hold it and drag down to desktop.
If the above solutions don't work, then try this-
You'd be having a shortcut to the browser on your desktop, no?
Right click on it> properties, in the target field, after the program's executable put a space and then the site which you want a shortcut to.
Apply>Ok.
Opening that shortcut now will open the site you wanted.
Download and merge the lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below, and restart the computer.
Default File Type Associations - Restore
Afterwards, see if when you right clicking on the desktop, New, and Shortcut will it work for you now.
If so, then you should be able to use the tutorial I posted above to create a internet shortcut like you wanted.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
