    Run app at startup

I am trying to run "Alarm Me" at startup. It is in the startup folder and listed in Msconfig Startup. I have it set to run as Administrator, Win XP Sp2 compatability and minimized. I have also tried to run it using Task Scheduler, to no avail. If I open the startup folder and click on the app, it executes properly. ?

Hello Ram, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It's due to it being set to Run as administrator for why it may not run at startup.

If the program has to use Run as adminstrator for it to run properly, then you can use the tutorial below to create a new elevated shortcut for it that will not give you a UAC prompt when ran. Afterwards, place this new elevated shortcut in your Startup folder instead of the other one.

Elevated Program Shortcut without UAC Prompt - Create

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Run app at startup

Hi Shawn, Thanks for your reply. UAC is not the problem. I have the app set to run as Administrator and do not get any error message, it just fails to run.

    Bob,

As a test, create a elevated shortcut as in the tutorial above.

Afterwards, see if you can get that shortcut to run at startup while using step 15 (for the elevated shortcut) in the tutorial below.

Task - Create to Run a Program at Startup and Log On

Hopefully that should allow it to run for you at startup. :)

    Run app at startup

Hi Shawn, Thanks for all your help. This is what my final task looks like:
    PROPERTIES
    General
    Name Alarm3
    User Bob-HP\Bob
Run only when user is logged on
    Configure Windows server, etc.
    Triggers
    At Startup
At Log on (any user) (It seems that I need both triggers)
    Actions
    Start a program C:\Program Files (x86)\Alarm Me\AlarmMe.exe
    Conditions (Grayed out)
    Settings (Grayed out)

Again, Thanks much for your help
    Bob
