    Purchase

Old computer is on it's last leg and am looking for pros/cons as to what I should buy next - tower/laptop. Computer is used personal use and minimal business things. Will be of course purchasing the Office products and am looking to add publisher to that package.

Any good words out there as to what I should purchase.

That's like asking us what you should get for dinner. No one else is going to be able to offer any real insight because none of us are going to be using the system. You know if you need it to be portable or not. You know if you place to upgrade the hardware down the line. You know your budget. Sorry if it comes across as me being unhelpful...it's just that this is an extremely vague question that's purely an opinion...and none of us are qualified to make that choice for you.

DeaconFrost is on the money : think about where you want to be with that PC in 2 years time, what do you want to use it for. do you want to use it from one location only (eg. a home office) or do you want to surf the web from your back garden (eg. a laptop).

Come back with some information and ideas and we can help you

    Regards,

If you hadn't felt the need for a laptop thus far, then you don't need one. Go for a desktop. Its as simple as that. ( I do not have a laptop and I am never comfortable with the touchpanel mouse - by whatever name you call it. :) )

Will you need portability down the line? Well at that time you can add one. (Most people have a desktop and a laptop if they move about a lot and can't live without a comp for more than a few hours. :))

If you tell us your budget for it and whether laptop or desktop, we can narrow it down. And there are a couple of things I always do. 1. look for sales, 2. Install a SSD for the OS as soon as it arrives.

If your going to run 7x64 (desktop) I would recomend at least 4 gigs memory.
