Win 7 does not resume correctly after sleep

Every time I put my computer to sleep or hibernate and wake it up, the computer resumes to a screen stating "Windows failed to shut down correctly" A recent hardware or software change might be the cause and I'm asked to choose how to restart.Quite similar to the screen I would get after a crash.
    Any insight on this issue?

Is this a clean install, factory install or in-place Upgrade?

Troubleshoot the issue by checking the logs for events at the time of suspend and resume.

Next try updating your display driver, or try another Win7 or Vista driver: Driver Install - Device Manager.

Here is the tool used by Pros to trace these issues: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/1402...resume-issues/

If this doesn't help, try running SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

As a last resort before clean reinstall, try a Repair Install

Tips for getting a purrfect clean reinstall - use the ones which apply: re-install windows 7

Funny, I've actually had the same problem. I tried putting my tower into sleep mode and it had a hard time restarting. I've avoided it. But my wife's laptop goes into sleep mode just fine.
