Good Day brianzion,
Thanks for your assistance. I began playing with Resmon and at the time of the snippet I was logged on as Admin with several gadgets and a backup verification running. I was also logged onto my User account and was running 4 gadgets, Tbird and Firefox and regular startup processes that I don't believe are necessary, ITune Helper, google update, my onboard video control center, etc:. I was getting pretty much instant response when typing and changing pages. I began to experiment by running Resmon and deleting gadgets and closing TBird and Explorer and then the Admin logon was finished the verification and I closed down and logged out. The amount of free memory changed dramatically. Yet the Total Memory of 2812 MB, again the same as the gadget showed always stayed the same. Subtracting 2812 from 4096, I got 1024. This coincides with the snippet's value for hardware reserved memory.
What is the hardware reserved memory used for? That is the difference in my physical and total memory. Happy days a minor epiphany.
Tryed RAMMON and it is just chuck full of information that I didn't know existed.
I used the trial companion benchmark test and got a 608.7. I would like to speed things up but since the memory never went into the pagefile, do I really need a memory upgrade. Would the money be better spent on an SSD.
I really would like to get an idea of what the 1024 MB System memory is doing.
Thanks again Sir.

4 gig of ram is good i had that but upgraded to 8gig and glad i did i noticed a big improvement in the system
Hello brianzion,
I followed the instructions you posted in post #20 and unticked that box and resmon showed that my Hardware Reserved memory shrank from 1024 MB to 516 MB.
I now have 3580 MB Total. Amazing.
Please explain what I just did and it's, if any ramifications. Good word for the post.
Thank you once again!!

yes you have let windows use all your ram and allocate it properly always perform that check if you upgrade ram or take your modules out and replace them. can we mark this thread resolved? :)
