Windows 7: really odd behavior- password not working

Windows 7 Professional x64

1. Check CapsLock,
2. Check NumLock If it's a laptop, without separate numpad, check that Numlock is off,
3. Check Keyboard Layout (in the top left corner, you can see a keyboard icon - click on it) - This was the cause for me
4. Check with another keyboard

I know this is an old thread, but these may be useful for others searching for a solution to this.
