Cloned SSD fails to boot unless old HDD is plugged in via caddy

    Hi,

I have an old laptop that I've decided to refresh (Acer Aspire 6935G) with a lovely SSD.

I used Macrium Reflect to clone the hard drive whilst the ssd was in the caddy, once cloned I swapped and put the ssd inside the laptop and the old hard drive in the usb caddy.

The laptop fails to boot unless the old hdd is plugged in via usb and set to the primary boot device.

I am pulling my hair out at this issue and have spent over a week trying to resolve it.

If I unplug the hard drive from caddy, and try booting, it presents error: 0xc000000e

If I unplug the hard drive from caddy once booted, the laptop works fine.

It appears that I only need the old hard drive for the BCD, but I cannot find how to get the BCD on the SSD and not the old hard drive.

    Someone help, please?

    Thanks

Try this, should fix it: Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD
