You are right, but Burgurne has also right about XP, but XP did not have that Anytime Opgrade option.

I2aMpAnT, you did not mentioned XP, so Burgurne, try read a little harder

This may have been covered, so forgive me if it's already been answered, but I don't have installed discs for Vista that the wife and I had on our machines before loading the RC of 7, so as for upgrading, my only option might be to use the two Windows XP Pro discs that I have.

Question: Can I use these to install the 7 upgrade? If so, what version could I upgrade to for Windows 7? Thanks.

If a disk is all that is required, then there are other ways of obtaining one..... Like burning your own. You know.

Can't say any more than that, but if you need help, PM me.

Could I not simply use the XP discs I have though? Would that not be enough, or do I need Vista to go to 7? Like I said, I have two XP Pro discs purchased legally. And if so, what version of 7 can I go to with an upgrade from XP Pro.

I know how to get a hold of "other" types of media for discs...

I think you can actually.... I know we talking about that here, I think in Upgrade or Full - What is the difference? Find that thread in general, I think it is in there.

HOW TO DO A FULL INSTALL WITH AN UPGRADE DISK:
1) Put in the Upgrade disk and boot into it.
2) Install the OS, but DO NOT enter your product code!!! Select skip instead.
3) After install in complete, run Setup from INSIDE the new install and this time enter your Product Key.

No its not. There is a Full Install Key. That will only activate a full version.
The upgrade requires a previous installation.

The only keys that are the same are the x32 and x64 keys.
