Thanks Mitchell, I believe your probably correct.
But, just for the heck of it, does anybody know which service controls the native (drag/drop burner) in Win 7 Pro?

I really appreciate all the help.
I'm just a gal that learns 90% of this stuff on my own and from reading/posting in forums.
Thanks again.

UPDATE!
I just checked my XP laptop and the Burner has a "recording" tab under properties/general if I right click on it.

My win 7 laptop has no recording tab.

My guess is that one of the third party programs has taken the burner over because I can still burn no problem with the third party programs.
Many thanks to all for your time.
You people are great!
D.

ps: I have one more major glitch.... this one might be a bit tougher than the burner issue but I think I'll wait a while to post about it since I'm new here. Dont want to wear my welcome out

Thanks
D

Most people would be thrilled to have drag and drop burning disabled. You have a very good free burning app, and a great free DVD ripping app already. For the best burning results, use them, and don't worry about the less-featured, unreliable built-in burning app.

You won't wear out your welcome at all. All I can suggest is...if the issue is unrelated, create a new thread so we can keep them separate. If you haven't done so already, fill out your system specs as well. It helps us to troubleshoot.

They have a free version that does all the same ripping, just not the conversations to other formats, like for an iPod. However, I use Handbrake to convert to these formats, so I never found a reason to pay for DVDfab. To pretty much all the people who use the app on here, it is considered free, because the free version does what we need it to do.
