Something hinky with windows...
I just installed windows 7 64-bit on a brand new computer and all seemed well. I encountered my first problem while trying to update windows 7 with windows update. i had to restart my computer about 17 times because there were new updates to be installed each time upon startup. In nearly every instance, there were several updates that failed with various codes and all except one were installed in the end (the odd one out was a compatibility update).
After I was finished with that, i decided to go to comcast.net and redeem my free copy of Norton antivirus that they provide for customers. the download manager would painstakingly download the entire file before telling me that automatic install cannot proceed. During several troubleshoots and alternative options provided by norton's site i was presented with a screen that stated that my file was corrupt. So, naturally, i gave up on it.
next i tried to get avg free, which if you dont know is a free, cut-down version of a powerful antivirus suite. The setup halted giving me an eerily similar error that the file was corrupt and setup could not continue.
i have no idea what category my problem falls under, but i really would like some help.
