Windows 7: Am I missing something or is windows 7 search Awfull?

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I just did a test using explorer and the search bar in the start menu. In both cases I got 12 hits, searching the word "logo". You might have some sort of file/registry corruption. Do you have indexing turned on?

I'm also starting to think these issues are due to system mucking. If people started following the "leave it alone" mantra, things that are supposed to work, normally will. Windows Search is FAR improved after past versions. I use the search several times daily. As an exmaple, I will often search for a file that I can't remember if it is an e-mail or if I saved it somewhere else. Doesn't will find it each and every time.

You must add 'System' back to permissions so that the folder may be indexed.

There is no notification that search will 'break' under these circumstances, but firsthand experience verifies it here. This may not be your problem, but worth checking.

Darn good point. I have to remember that. +1
