Screen Capture doesn't seem to work

I followed the instructions in help but clipboard did not copy the screen. With or without pushing the alt key. It still had my last copy of a link address. While we are at it where do I go to get rid of the big bar across the bottom of my new 24 in whooperdooper back lit led display that makes it to about a 17 inch display. None of the tool bars are activated. Have a nice day.

I assume you are trying to paste your screen capture into a photo editing program so you can save it as a jpg image?

I've seen situations where I had to shut down the editor BEFORE I hit the print screen key and then reopen it AFTER I hit the key. If I just left it open, I could only paste in an earlier print screen, rather than a new one.

    Regarding your display:

What resolution are you currently using?

What other resolutions are available when you right click the screen, choose "personalize" and then "display" from the lower left?

What is the "native resolution" of your monitor?

It sounds like you may be using a 16:9 type resolution ("widescreen") when you really need a conventional 4:3 non-widescreen resolution.

screen appearance and print screen performance

These are task or tool bars taking up the space. If I could get the print screen to work I could show you. This is not blank space. Just tool bar or task bars taking up space on the screen. I may go to the snipping tool. It worked last time I tried it. But if there is a problem with print screen I'd like to fix it. I haven't tried all the options suggested in the previous post. I have gone to one screen on the laptop to simplify thing

As far as print screen yes I am trying to paste it in either paint or corel photohouse. I have to complete the suggestions before I am finished checking it out. I've never had problems before using print screen in other MS operating systems

If you right click the Taskbar and choose 'Properties' you get options to use small icons or to auto-hide the Taskbar or to move it to the top or side of the screen.

Brink, do you have a tutorial that uses the Win 7 Snipping tool? If not, it would be handy to have. Doesn't make much sense to download MWSnap when the Snipping Tool is already available in Win 7.

Is there a Template for creating help files here? If you don't want to do this I might take a shot at it if I had a template to work from.

OK I giver up. It didn't work, then I got print screen working without the big monitor, Now it doesn't work again
then snip worked then not. Best I go elsewhere for a while then come back another time if necessary. The last time I did a paste it had the old capture and not the new copy. Have a nice day
Later Thanks for trying to help.

Some computers require that you hit the 'fn' key with the Print Screen key. Why don't you try that?

    fn key worked

I had erratic results. Sometime pr scr worked then not. However I need more testing to see what happens when I hit the fn key also as the first time it only copied part of the screen. The next time I highlighted the screen and the entire article was pasted but I don't know if it was jpg or just text. You'd think just hit pr scr and then past it somewhere. Fortunately there are other methods to get results too. Have a nice day.
