    Windows Easy Transfer fails

I previously had W7 RC, and when I got the retail version, I used WET to migrate my information from the RC version to the retail version. All was swell until my W7 came up with an activation error where it wouldn't let me past the main screen because, according to it, the W7 installation wasn't genuine (it, of course, was). I decided to wipe the drive and reinstall W7, figuring I could just use WET again (my first installation had taken place less than 24 hrs before). I was shocked to discover that my second attempt failed. I don't understand what changed. I have three WET files on my backup drive: one labeled: "Windows Easy Transfer - items from old computer" and the other two labeled exactly the same, except they say MIG01 and MIG02, respectively, at the end of their file name. These three files are the only things on my back up drive.

Why isn't WET working? When I open the files using WET, I get the message, "Windows Easy Transfer couln't open the file."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi and welcome

WET needs a specific extension (*.xxx). If the two others were re named it cant open them. If you really need them you can try and change them to the extension of the one file that does work. If it doesnt work you can always turn it back to what it was

I don't understand. I didn't change any of the file names since the previous time I used WET successfully. When I used WET on my old computer to migrate files, it created the three files I mentioned at the top of this string with the exact extensions listed above. So why would it suddenly stop working?
